What makes home birth so special? If your plan is a natural birth, supported by people who love you and caregivers you trust will respect you and your baby's needs, giving birth at home is ideal. If a family-centered birth experience is how you see your ideal birth, giving birth at home will give you the best chance for making that a reality. Having the support of skilled care providers who are experts in home birth, will help you balance your need for safety with your need for family unity and control over your birth experience.

For home births, since you are preparing your birth space, you will need to do some of that work yourself, so there is more personal responsibility involved than for a birth center birth. You will need to gather together some supplies, purchase one of our custom birth kits, and consider whether you will need to rent one of our birth pools. But, the trade off is that you don’t have to leave your home when you’re in labor, and you get to just go to sleep in your own bed after the birth, instead of needing to drive home first.

Premier Birth Center midwives provide services to families planning home births in Virginia within a radius of about one hour of Winchester and Chantilly, including the cities of Fairfax, South Riding, Aldie, Reston, Leesburg, Falls Church, Arlington, Alexandria, Manassas, Gainesville, Marshall, Front Royal, Winchester, and Leesburg. We also serve Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Fauquier, Loudoun, Clarke, Frederick, and Shenandoah counties. Other locations are at the discretion of the midwives.
