Having a coordinated plan for consultation and transfer is vitally important to the safety of out-of-hospital birth, and it is because of this that we have worked to establish a relationship with Dr. Gonzalez where he can support our clients with his medical expertise if they develop issues that are outside of our scope of practice. He is not part of our staff, but he is available for consultation, as needed, and for non-urgent intrapartum (in-labor) hospital transfers. He supports our model of care and has privileges at  Reston Hospital.

Dr. Gonzalez is a third generation OB/GYN. He graduated from medical school in Peru, completing his 3 year residency at a high volume obstetric unit. In the United States, he furthered his training by completing training at Long Island College Hospital and Howard University Hospital. He is an attending physician at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2002-present), and a Fellow (FACOG) American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His Primary Cesarean Section Rate is 21.4% (2008 updated on 11/29/2012), and he accepts all insurance plans.
